EMS Week 2011

Emergency Medical Services Week 2011 will bring together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of the medical "front line."

The theme for 2011 is: “Everyday Hereos.” With that theme in mind, EMS services across the state will be hosting events to promote safety, enhance their community presence and pay tribute to the important work of everyone in the EMS and trauma communities.

Continuing the commitment to the safety of children, EMS Week will have a day dedicated to awareness of safety and injury prevention programs for children. ACEP has designated Wednesday, May 18, 2011, as EMS for Children Day.

Throughout EMS Week, state and local planners will hold activities honoring paramedics, emergency medical technicians, first responders, fire fighters, and the police. EMS providers also will educate the public about injury prevention, safety awareness, and medical emergencies.

EMS Week is sponsored by the American College of Emergency Physicians. Organizational sponsors include The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Emergency Medical Services for Children program.
