Step-By-Step Membership Procedure

Please read all of the information on this page, it is designed to answer many of your questions and give you an idea of what to expect as a Volunteer member of our Fire District.

Pickup a Volunteer Application Packet
The Volunteer Application is included in the Volunteer Information Package which may be obtained from our business office at 661 Chemawa Rd NE, Keizer OR


Complete the Keizer Fire District Volunteer Membership Application
This two part application form must be filled out completely and returned to us. Part one, the Application, must be signed and dated; part two, the Authorization to Release Information, must be signed, dated and signed by a Notary Public for the State of Oregon. Once received this application will be kept on file for six months, it will be your responsibility to update this as necessary. (The District has a Notary Public on staff)
Background Investigation
We will obtain background information on each applicant in two ways. First, driving history will be checked through the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles; and second, criminal history will be checked through Oregon State Police.
Volunteer Firefighter Interview
An evening will be scheduled for you to be interviewed at the Fire Station by the Interview Committee. This will consist of several questions that will allow us to get to know you a little better and also allow you to ask questions of us. This interview will last 15 to 20 minutes and will be scheduled after the Applications have been completed and the Background Investigations are received and are acceptable.
Physical
Each Firefighter candidate approved by the Interview Committee will receive a complete medical and physical evaluation to determine if the candidate can perform the essential functions of the position. This evaluation will be conducted at the District’s expense, and will be performed by a Licensed physician who is by contract providing this service for the Fire District. Appointment as a Firefighter is contingent upon passing this physical.
Acceptance As A Keizer Volunteer Firefighter
Upon successful completion of the above items, you will be given a schedule of training dates and welcomed as a member of our team.
