Keizer Fire Responds to Shed Fire
At 10:05 pm, Keizer Fire District firefighters responded to reports of a barn fire at 4453 18th Avenue NE, Keizer, Oregon. Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved 12' x 14' storage shed and tall arborvitae bushes on fire.
Upon investigation by the first arriving units, a 2nd alarm was called for more fire personnel due the fire spreading from the shed to neighboring properties.
Fire crews began an aggressive attack of the shed fire, while the 2nd alarm engine company extinguished the arborvitae bushes engulfed in fire on an adjacent property.
The situation was under control in 25 minutes.
The shed is owned by Adam & Cheryl Krein who were at home at the time of the fire. Fire damage to the shed is estimated at $5,000 as the fire damaged the entire structure and a loss of $2,000 to the contents. No injuries were reported.
During the investigation, Mr. Krein reported that he had been burning material in a burn barrel in the backyard earlier in the day. From the location of the burn barrel, associated fire damage and homeowner statements, the Fire District has determined the fire to be accidental.
The Keizer Fire District would like to remind residents that backyard burning is prohibited within the city limits of Keizer.
