Keizer Fire District medics responded to a call of a woman in labor near Plymouth Dr. NE on the evening of June 3rd. Paramedics arrived to find the woman in active labor and delivery of the child imminent. Paramedics Greg Biben and Rachel Grier knew the mother would not make it to Salem Hospital before delivery so they stayed at the residence to assist the mother in delivery.  The baby was born with no complications; mother and baby are both doing well.

The child, a healthy baby boy weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces was born at 11:02 pm at the residence. Mother and baby were transported to Salem Hospital Family Birth Center following delivery to be evaluated. 

Greg Biben stated "This was the first time I have delivered a baby. I relied on all the training I have been given throughout my years at the Keizer Fire District."  Rachel Grier added "Some people go their whole careers without delivering a baby. I feel honored to have been able to assist with three in my short career."
