Keizer Fire Responds to a Kitchen FireThursday, November 19, 2009
Keizer Fire District personnel responded to a reported house fire on River Rock Drive NE in Keizer, Oregon. The call was received at the 911 center at 8:55 pm. Crews arriving in five minutes reported smoke showing from the front door. The owner was confirmed to be out of the house and he also confirmed no other people were in the house.
Upon entering the house firefighters found the kitchen stove and cabinets on fire. The fire was quickly knocked down, and fire was limited to the kitchen. The entire house did sustain moderate smoke damage. Preliminary estimates place the loss at approximately $25,000 dollars. Cause of the fire was from a pan of oil on the stove that ignited and spread to the cabinets.
There were no firefighter injuries however, the occupant was evaluated at the scene by Keizer Fire District Paramedics and transported to the Emergency room for treatment.
Additional information is limited at this time as investigators were not able to get a statement from the occupant prior to transport to the emergency room.
