Keizer Fire District to Host Fire Prevention Week Open HouseFriday, October 02, 2009
The Keizer Fire District will hold its Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Monday, October 5, 2009. Hours of the Open House are 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The theme from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for this year's Fire Prevention Week is "Stay Fire Smart! Don't Get Burned."
Visitors will be able to see apparatus displays and receive valuable fire safety information. In addition, visitors can participate in fun activities and enjoy refreshments.
Activities include demonstrations of kitchen fire safety, the use of fire extinguishers, and free blood pressure checks. Children of all ages will be able to use a real fire hose, try their skills at the Junior Firefighter Challenge and practice crawling low under smoke through the home escape maze.
Some of the participants in this year's Fire Prevention Week Open House include; the American Red Cross, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Keizer Police Department, Explorer Post 350, Oregon Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Willamette Valley Communications Center (9-1-1).
Also in attendance this year will be Fire Pup.
