Fire Prevention Week Open House
The Keizer Fire District will hold its Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Monday, October 8, 2007. Hours of the Open House are 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Visitors will be able to see apparatus displays and get valuable fire safety information. In addition visitors can participate in fun activities and enjoy refreshments.
Activities include demonstrations of kitchen fire safety, the use of fire extinguishers, and free blood pressure checks. Children of all ages will be able to use a real fire hose, try their skills at the Junior Firefighter Challenge and practice crawling low under smoke through the home escape maze.
Participants in this year’s Fire Prevention Week Open House include the American Red Cross, Salem Department of Environmental Services, Community Emergency Response Tem (CERT), Emergency Volunteers Assisting Keizer (EVAK) and KARES (Keizer Animal Rescue Emergency Shelters), the Keizer Police Department and Explorer Post 350. Other participants include Marion County Emergency Management, IAFF Local 3881, Oregon Burn Center, the Oregon Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Willamette Valley Communications Center (9-1-1).
Also in attendance this year will be Fire Pup and Freddy the Fire Truck.
This year children who visit the various displays can have their Open House Passport stamped after answering a safety question and enter a drawing for their chance to win a bike.
