Practice Burn to Train FirefightersTuesday, October 11, 2005
On Saturday, October 15, 2005 the Keizer Fire District will conduct a live fire training exercise at 2715 Chemawa Rd. NE in Keizer. The exercise is scheduled to begin at
8:00 am and should be concluded by 1:00 pm.
The exercise will consist of the burning of an older home at that address. The structure has been donated to the Keizer Fire District for training purposes by Northwest National L.L.C. and is located on property being developed as part of the Keizer Station shopping complex. At the conclusion of the drill the structure will be allowed to completely burn.
This type of training exercise is extremely valuable to fire agencies as it allows firefighters to practice in an environment they will find in uncontrolled fires.
The structure is located close to the I-5 freeway and will be visible to motorists on the freeway and Chemawa Rd. NE. Due to the placement of equipment to be used in the drill access to areas North of Chemawa Rd between McLeod Ln. and the freeway, such as Volcanoes Stadium, will need to be accessed by another route. One recommendation to avoid the area north of the exercise, is to take McLeod Lane NE from Chemawa Rd. NE to Tepper Lane NE.
For questions regarding this exercise please contact the Keizer Fire District.
